Winter Crisis Program Offers Heating Assistance This Winter

Flyer for the Winter Crisis Program running November 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026. The flyer explains heating assistance benefits for households facing disconnection, low fuel supply, or needing help establishing service. It lists income qualifications below 175 percent of the federal poverty level and emergency requirements. The Bridges Community Action Partnership logo appears with service areas including Champaign, Delaware, Logan, Madison, Shelby, and Union counties. A checklist shows required documents such as proof of income, recent utility bills, household identification, and proof of citizenship if applicable. Contact phone numbers for each county are listed, and the message encourages residents to call their local office for an appointment. Decorative penguins in winter hats appear at the bottom.

The program, offered by Bridges Community Action Partnership, provides assistance to eligible households who are disconnected, at risk of disconnection, low on bulk fuel or wood, or need help starting or transferring heating services.

Who May Qualify?

You may be eligible if your household:

  • Is below 175% of the Federal Poverty Level, and

  • Is experiencing a heating-related emergency

The program serves residents in Champaign, Delaware, Logan, Madison, Shelby, and Union counties.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

Applicants should be prepared with:

  • Proof of income for the past 30 days

  • Most recent heating and electric bills

  • Birth dates and Social Security numbers for household members

  • Proof of disability, if applicable

  • Proof of citizenship or household documentation

Additional guidance is available for households with seasonal or self-employment income.

Schedule an Appointment

Residents are encouraged to call their local county office to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Assistance is limited, and early scheduling helps ensure support when it’s needed most.

No one should have to choose between warmth and other necessities. If you or someone you know may qualify, please share this information and reach out for help this winter.
